Application Process
Submit your application to SUTD online at https://admission.sutd.edu.sg/.
The application process will take approximately 15 to 20 minutes to complete and we recommend that you have the following documents ready to facilitate your application (incomplete applications will not be considered):
- Soft copy of the Original Undergraduate and/or Master’s degree transcripts and certificates
Please submit your latest official transcripts and an official letter of certification from your institution stating the expected date of the graduation and/or conferral of degree if your program is still in progress. For non-English documents, an official English translation must be provided (at your expense). - Score report of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
If the medium of instruction used for your undergraduate studies is not English, please submit your latest IELTS or TOEFL scores. - Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) score report
Not required for PhD in SMT but recommended. Please note that the DI code of SUTD is 7398. - Names, titles & e-mail addresses of your three recommenders
Recommenders should preferably be academic faculty who can comment on your scholastic capabilities and achievements as well as your ability to complete the PhD programme. Do notify your recommenders beforehand as they will be required to submit their respective online recommendations within 1 week after your PhD application submission. - Relevant supporting documents
Soft copies or web links to academic and/or industry portfolio, awards, publications, etc. - Soft copy of your Identity Card or relevant pages in your Passport
- Soft copy of your Statement of Objectives (3,000 words)
The Statement of Objectives (about 3,000 words) should describe your experience, research interest, and passion for the topic of study.
Short-listed applicants may be interviewed face-to-face, via video conferencing or over the telephone.
